FORDHAM'S GRANT KERR NAMED ATLANTIC 10 MEN'S SOCCER ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

(September 26, 2005) - Fordham University freshman Grant Kerr (Linlithgow, Scotland/Linlithgow Academy) was named Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 25th. This is Kerr's first Atlantic 10 honor, and is the second Fordham player to win Rookie of the Week honors this season, as Sam Acheampong garnered the honor two weeks ago. Kerr had a goal and an assist in two games this week, capitalizing in the clutch for the Rams. On Monday, he scored his first collegiate goal in the 75th minute against Army, capping off a 3-2 come from behind win for Fordham. Then, on Saturday, he assisted on the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win at Marist. The Fordham Men's Soccer team is currently 4-1-2 on the year after winning their last three contests. The team re-entered the New York Regional Rankings by the NSCAA last week, currently standing ninth in the region. Founded in 1841, Fordham is New York City??s Jesuit University. With 22 men??s and women??s varsity sports teams, the Fordham Rams are members of the NCAA Division I and compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, indoor and outdoor track, women??s rowing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball and in the Patriot League (NCAA I-AA) for football.
