WOMEN'S SOCCER CREDITED WITH WIN OVER QUINNIPIAC BY NCAA

(September 20, 2005) ?C Following a review by a member of the NCAA Soccer Rules Committee, the September 16th women??s soccer game between Fordham and Quinnipiac has been changed to a 3-2 double overtime win for the Rams, instead of a 3-3 tie, due to the officials failing to enforce the rules of conduct. After being tied at two at the end of regulation, the officials played out the overtime period, instead of following NCAA rules and crediting Fordham with a ??golden goal?? win after Haley Lentsch??s goal at the 101:40 mark of overtime. All statistics following Lentsch??s goal have been deleted from the game. Quinnipiac had opened the scoring at the 16:21 mark as Leandra Price netted her second goal of the season on an assist from Brittany Lockwood. Fordham then quickly tied the game four minutes later as Haley Lentsch scored her fifth goal of the season off a direct kick. The game would stay that way until the 75:11 mark of the second half, as Leah Jerome scored her first of the season for the Rams, giving Fordham a 2-1 edge. Quinnipiac though tied the game with just 2:07 left on the clock as Rachele See scored to the top left corner of the goal, off a pass from Leisl Lissfelt. Fordham the won the game in overtime as Lentsch scored her second goal of the game and sixth of the season, connecting on a shot to the bottom right corner at the 101:40 mark. The Fordham Women's Soccer is now 5-3 on the year, and will next be in action on Monday, September 26th as they play at Lafayette at 7:00 PM.
