FORDHAM UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES 2005-06 WOMEN??S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE

(Sept. 13, 2005) - The 2005-06 Fordham University women??s basketball schedule features a sixteen-game Atlantic 10 Conference schedule and 13 home games, as well as four match-ups with BIG EAST schools. The non-conference schedule is highlighted by the appearance of four BIG EAST teams. The Rams will host Georgetown on November 30th and Providence on December 4th, while traveling to West Virginia on November 26th and Cincinnati on December 11th. The Rams will also travel to face a Big Ten team when they venture to Ann Arbor, Michigan on December 13th to face the Big Blue and will host Florida State University out of the Atlantic Coast Conference in the Rose Hill Gym on December 28th. Eight of Fordham??s 2005-06 opponents saw postseason action last year with four teams appearing in the NCAA Tournament: Florida State, George Washington, Richmond and Temple; and four others receiving bids to the NIT (Charlotte, Delaware, West Virginia and Xavier). Fordham??s Atlantic 10 schedule includes home-and-home games with Rhode Island, Saint Joseph??s and St. Bonaventure as well as home dates with Charlotte, Dayton, Duquesne, Saint Louis and Xavier. The Rams will play Atlantic 10 schools George Washington, Massachusetts, Richmond, Temple and Xavier on the road. The conference will be comprised of one, 14-team league in 2005-06 with the top 12 teams advancing to the Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament at Saint Joseph??s from March 3-6, 2006. In non-conference play, the Rams will open the season by playing at Hofstra on November 18th and then open the 2005-06 home schedule by hosting Tulane University in the Rose Hill Gym on November 20th. Fordham will play six of its ten non-conference games on the road including trips to cross-Bronx rival Manhattan College, Yale University and the University of Cincinnati along with the trips to West Virginia and Michigan. Besides Tulane, the Rams will also host Delaware, Georgetown, Providence and Florida State. Fordham will be led into the season by sixth-year head coach Jim Lewis. With over 300 victories at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels, Lewis has worked with some of the nation??s top talent and succeeded at all levels. Under Coach Lewis, Fordham players have received high recognition by the Atlantic 10 coaches with Mobolaji Akiode and Monica Mack being named Atlantic 10 Most Improved Player in 2003 and 2004, respectively.
