Aimee Bryers, a former volunteer assistant swimming coach at Iona College, was named assistant swimming coach at Fordham University it was announced today by head coach
Steve Potsklan.
Bryers served as an assistant coach at Iona College in 2004-05, coaching the morning and weekend workouts, primarily working with the middle and long distance swimmers. She worked with the athletes one-on-one on strokes, turns and technicalities and aided in the recruiting process. Bryers also served as an assistant water polo coach for the Gaels in 2004 and was the assistant academic advisor while working on her MBA in 2003-04.
A 2003 Iona College graduate, Bryers earned a degree in accounting. She was a four-year member of the Gaels?? swimming program, earning Most Valuable Player honors in 2002 and 2003 and the Joseph O??Connell Award as the student-athlete of the year at Iona in 2003. Bryers, who also played two seasons of water polo at Iona, graduated with school records in the 500 freestyle and the 200 and 400 individual medley as well as being a member of the school-record setting 200 freestyle and 400 medley relay teams.
In the classroom, Bryers, who also earned an MBA from Iona in 2004, received Academic All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) honors in swimming all four years and was twice named to the All-Academic Collegiate Water Polo Team.
Bryers, who currently is employed as an analyst for product support for Morgan Stanley, resides in Mamaroneck, NY.
