(August 15, 2005) - The Fordham University Cheerleading Squad reported back to campus on Aug. 3rd for a rigorous pre-camp schedule to prepare for camp at Southern Connecticut State University. All 17 members of the team then traveled to Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven Ct. from Aug. 9th -11th for cheerleading camp conducted by Universal Cheerleaders Association. The camp had some of the best teams in the nation there. Fordham won four team trophies: 1st in the sideline competition (for the second year in a row); 1st in the Fight Song competition; and 2nd in the Cheer competition. The squad also won for the second year in a row the Most Collegiate award. This award was described as the team that has some of the best cheerleaders, best coaching staff and best overall program. The girls were most excited about winning the Most Collegiate award. The Fordham University Cheerleading program will hold an open tryout for newcomers on Sunday, September 11th and Monday, September 12th in the Vincent T. Lombardi Center. The first day will consist of an orientation to give the newcomers a chance to learn the material and the second day will be the actual tryout.
