NEW YORK'S LONGEST RUNNING SPORTS CALL-IN SHOW TURNS THIRTY

(June 17, 2005) - This year marks the thirtieth anniversary of the student produced and hosted One on One, New York City's longest running sports call-in show, on WFUV (90.7 FM, wfuv.org). The students who have produced One on One over the last thirty years have won numerous industry awards and have often gone on to successful careers in sports broadcasting. To celebrate One on One's thirtieth anniversary, the show is inviting these accomplished alumni to return to WFUV as special guests throughout 2005. The anniversary season kicks off with visits from Chris Carrino, the Nets' voice on WFAN, and ESPN Radio Network News Editor Peter Ciccone on Saturday, June 18 at 1:00 PM. Other former One on One hosts who will return to WFUV this year include USA Today Sports Reporter and One on One founder Malcolm Moran; New York Times Baseball Reporter Jack Curry; ABC News Radio Executive Director of News and Sports Coverage Mike Rizzo; ESPN Radio Network Executive Producer of Remote Production John Martin; Bloomberg Radio Morning Anchor Connell McShane; Voice of the Knicks Mike Breen; Voice of the Giants Bob Papa; Voice of the Washington Nationals Charlie Slowes; and Cirillo World, Ltd. President John Cirillo. A schedule of air dates will be announced shortly. Every Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, One on One covers both pro and college sports, with a focus on Fordham University teams. Under the supervision of Executive Sports Producer Bob Ahrens, WFUV Sports' 24-member student staff produces the show thousands of New Yorkers tune in to for insightful sports commentary and interviews. Each week, the show is hosted by a revolving cast of nine students, with the rest of the staff producing, engineering, writing and airing the sports updates. WFUV, 90.7 FM/www.wfuv.org, is a non- commercial, member-supported public radio station, licensed to Fordham University for more than 50 years. Serving 300,000 weekly listeners in the New York area, WFUV offers an eclectic mix of rock, singer-songwriters, blues, world and other music with its pioneering City Folk? format, plus headlines from National Public Radio, local news and sports and Metro Traffic.
