FORDHAM WOMEN??S BASKETBALL SIGN LISA CARROL FOR 2005-06 SEASON

(May 24, 2005) ?C Fordham University Head Women??s Basketball Coach Jim Lewis announced on Tuesday that Lisa Carrol has signed with the Rams for the 2005-06 season. She joins guard Daniela Roark (Los Altos, CA/Pinewood), and guard Annie Zopf (Pittsburgh, PA/Pine-Richland) who signed with Fordham during the early signing period in November. ??Signing Lisa Carrol is a great way to supplement our recruiting class,?? said Lewis. ??She played for an outstanding junior college program and I??m excited about the wealth of experience that she will bring to Rose Hill. She should step in and help the program from day one.?? Carrol, a 5-7 point guard from Stockholm, Sweden, played the past two years at Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, Kansas where she played for head coach Jim Turgeon. She led the Conquistadors to a 26-6 record this past winter and a second place finish in the Western Division of the Jayhawk Conference. The First Team All-Region VI and First Team All-Conference selection averaged 12.5 ppg and 3.1 rpg, shooting 53% (137-256) from the floor, 46% (63-138) from behind the arc and 88% (50-57) from the free throw stripe. She also led the team with 134 assists while committing only 66 turnovers for a 2.03 assist/turnover ratio and was second on the squad with 54 steals. As a freshman at Dodge City, Carrol helped the Conquistadors to a 26-8 record and the team was ranked as high as eighth in the NJCAA national poll. The 26 wins were a team record as the squad finished one game shy of advancing to the national tournament. In the classroom, Carrol was named Academic All-America in both her freshman and sophomore seasons at Dodge City.
