Jim McElderry has announced the signing of one transfer and nine recruits today as junior midfielder Omer Rozen (Rome, Italy/Harei Ephraim (Israel)), defender Sam Acheampong (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison), defender Robert Burrell (Auroro, CO/Regis), midfielder Zach Intemann (Colorado Springs, CO/Manitou Springs), defender/midfielder Salim Lewis (Glendale, NY/Xavier), defender Giannis Miras (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown), midfielder Chris Paolino (Sands Point, NY/Chaminade), defender John Pardini (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown), midfielder Richard Self (Orange, CA/Mater Dei), and forward Stephen Woicik (Somers, CT/Somers) will suit up for the Rams in 2005.

Jim McElderry, "All of these student-athletes bring excellent soccer ability, strong academics, great leadership qualities, and a will to work hard. I know they will be an asset to Fordham University both on and off the pitch."
Rozen, a transfer from Long Island University, played in 35 games for the Blackbirds over the past two seasons, finishing fourth on the team in scoring in 2004. A resident of Rome, Italy, he suited up for the Rams during the spring season and has already been named a co-captain on the 2005 team.
Acheampong played defender for James Madison High School, serving as team captain as a senior. A club team captain of the Brooklyn Patriots and Storm Academy, he has also played on the Eastern New York State and Region I ODP Teams.
Burrell comes to Fordham from Regis High School in Auroro, CO, where he was a 2004 All-State selection and team captain, while also garnering First Team All-City and All-Conference honors. A club team member of the Colorado Storm, he helped the team to the 2003 and 2004 State Championships. He was also a two-year member of the National Honor Society at Regis.
Intemann just finished his playing career at Manitou Springs High School, where he was a two-year captain and a three-time First Team All-Conference selection (2002-04). A club team member of the Colorado Rush Pikes Peak, he was a 2004 All-State selection as a senior.
Lewis was named team MVP in each of the last three seasons at Xavier High School, helping the team to the 2003 Archdiocesan Championship. A 2004 soccer team captain as well as a varsity track athlete at Xavier, he plays club soccer for the Albertson Clash and Storm Academy and was a member of the 2002 Y-League National Champions. He has also seen time as a member of the Eastern New York State Team (2000-04) as well as the Region I ODP Team, which traveled to events in Artix, France, Costa Rica, and Barcelona, Spain.
Miras, a defender from Smithtown High School, served as team captain and was the Defensvie Team MVP in 2004. An All-County and All-Conference League 1 selection, he was picked as the Section IX MVP this past season. A club soccer player for the New York Hota Bavarians, he was a member of the National Honor Society and an All-America Scholar Award Winner.
Paolino served as team captain at Chaminade in 2004, and helped the team to the 2003 Catholic High School Championship. A teammate of Lewis on the Albertson Clash and Storm Academy, he helped the team to a #3 ranking in the nation in 2004, while being a part of two Region I Championship teams (2003-04) and three New York State Cup Championship teams (2002-04).
Pardini, Smithtown's team captain and Offensive MVP in 2004, was an All-Conference League 1 and All-County selection. A teammate of Miras at the high school level and Paolino and Lewis on the Albertson Clash and Storm Academy, he served as team captain on the Clash, helping the team to a #3 ranking in the nation in 2004, while being a part of two Region I Championship teams (2003-04) and three New York State Cup Championship teams (2002-04).
Self was Mater Dei's Offensive MVP, while being named All-League and Second Team All-CIF in 2005. A club soccer player for the Wolfpack Soccer Club, he was also a member of the varsity track and field team for two seasons as well as the National Honor Society.
Woicik, the team captain and leading goal scorer for Somers High School, was a two-time First Team All-Conference and All-State selection (2003-04), while garnering All-New England honors as a senior. After helping Somers to the Class S State Championship in 2004, he played club soccer for World Class Premier. Besides soccer, he also earned varsity letters in basketball and track and field, receiving All-State honors in the high jump event.
Founded in 1841, Fordham is New York City's Jesuit University. With 22 men's and women's varsity sports teams, the Fordham Rams are members of the NCAA Division I and compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, indoor and outdoor track, women's rowing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball and in the Patriot League (NCAA I-AA) for football.
