(May 17, 2005) ?C Fordham University junior Maureen Zivic (Coraopolis, PA/Our Lady of Sacred Heart) was recognized for her athletic and academic accomplishments by being named 2005 Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference for outdoor track.
Zivic, a Marketing major who serves as an indoor/outdoor track team captain, placed fifth in the 400m at the 2005 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships. She was also a member of the 4x800 relay team that won its race at the Penn Relays and took second at the A-10 Championships to earn Second Team All-A-10 honors. Zivic also placed third in the 800m at the 2005 Metropolitan Outdoor Championships.
Zivic also received Academic All-Atlantic 10 honors for the indoor season as she earned First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors this winter by winning the 500 meters at the 2005 Indoor Track and Field Championships. This winter, she set the school record for the 400 meters (56.84) and 500 meters (1:14.63), qualifying for the ECAC Championships for each race. Zivic also turned in the school??s best 800 meters time this year as well (2:15.17). She also was a member of the distance medley relay team which placed fifth at the Atlantic 10 championships.
Zivic earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors last year, placing second in the 500 meters while qualifying for the ECAC Championships.
