FORDHAM??S PAT CAREY NAMED HEAD BASEBALL COACH AT IONA COLLEGE

(July 28, 2005) ?C Iona College announced today that Pat Carey, an assistant coach with Fordham University, has been hired as the new head baseball coach, replacing Al Zoccolillo, who retired after 18 seasons at Iona. ??Pat has done a great job for us at Fordham and we thank him for his efforts,?? said Fordham head coach Nick Restaino, ??This was an opportunity that Pat has looked for and we wish him the best.?? Carey has been at Fordham since last summer, serving as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. Along with Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year Nick Restaino, Carey helped the Rams have a resurgent year, posting 34 overall wins and 17 conference wins. The 34 wins were the most since the 1997 campaign, while the 17 conference victories were the most by Fordham since joining the Atlantic 10 in 1995-96. ??With Pat??s hiring, it is a testament to Fordham Baseball, that as we succeed, not only do our players move on to new heights, but so do our coaches,?? said Restaino.
