(July 26, 2005) ?C Fordham pitcher Shingo Mitsumori (North Babylon, NY/St. Anthony??s) has signed on to pitch for the Japan Samurai Bears of Golden League, an independent league in California.
Mitsumori just finished a two-year stint at Fordham, helping the Rams to back-to-back Atlantic 10 Tournament berths. For his time at Fordham, he posted a 4-3 record with three saves and 75 strikeouts. His best season with the Rams came in 2004, where he led the Rams with a 3.11 earned run average to go with a team-high 20 appearances.
Mitsumori joins a select group of Fordham Rams currently playing professional baseball, which include two-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, Bobby Kingsbury, who is playing for the Lynchburg Hillcats in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, and Rob Semerano, who is playing for the Kane County Cougars in the Oakland Athletics organization,

Along with Mitsumori??s signing, the Rams had two more players selected as Summer League All-Stars. This time, Rich Goulian (Kinnelon, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) and Eric Reese (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) of the Middletown Monarchs were selected to the Atlantic Baseball Confederation Collegiate League All-Star Game.
The duo joins Cory Riordan (Killingworth, CT/Haddam-Killingworth), John Mollicone (Cranston, RI/Bishop Hendricken), and Danny Leach (Yonkers, NY/Iona Prep) as a Summer Ball All-Star.
Goulian, the Rams?? shortstop for most of 2005, is among the league leaders in batting average at .367 (18-49) with 13 runs scored, six RBI, and four stolen bases.
Reese, a utility player who saw action at a number of positions in 2005 for Fordham, is hitting .304 for the summer to go with 13 runs scored, a home run, and 12 RBI.
