(July 12, 2005) ?C Fordham Baseball??s Danny Leach (Yonkers, NY/Iona Prep) has been selected to the 2005 Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game, representing the Metro NY Cadets of the Kaiser Division. The ACBL All-Star Game is set for Monday, July 18th at 7:00 PM at the Ballpark at St. John??s University. Admission is free to the game with free raffles and prizes at the game.
Leach is one of three Rams participating in this league, along with pitchers Craig Tscherednikov and Tom Davis.
Leach, who sat out his freshman season due to injury, has helped the Metro NY Cadets to first place in the Kaiser Division at the All-Star break. As of July 11th, he currently leads the league in stolen bases, swiping 15 in 17 attempts, while hitting .298 with 11 runs scored and four outfield assists. He has also been named Player of the Week once, after batting .600, during the week of June 19th.
As for the other Rams in the ACBL, Tscherednikov, who heads into his senior year at Fordham, is playing for the Jersey Pilots and has already been named Pitcher of the Week once. He has posted a 2-1 record with a shutout, a 3.38 ERA and a .211 opponent batting average. Davis, who was named to the 2005 Atlantic 10 All-Championship team as a freshman at Fordham, is playing for the Stamford Robins, where he has a 1-1 record to go with a 0.47 ERA, a .219 opponent batting average, and 17 strikeouts in 19 innings pitched.
