(May 4, 2005) ?C Fordham University women??s sophomore rower Jennifer Roussil (Georgetown Visitation/Gaithersburg, MD) was named Academic All-Atlantic 10 by a vote of the conference??s Sports Information Directors it was announced today. To be eligible for the Academic All-Conference team, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve and have a cumulative 3.0 gpa or better (on a 4.0 scale) for his/her entire academic career.
Roussil, an International Political Economy major, serves as the coxswain for the Fordham Varsity 8 shell. This spring, the Varsity 8 rowed to a bronze medal at the 2005 Atlantic 10 Championships as well as advancing to the finals of the prestigious Knecht Cup where the crew finished 15th. In the fall, the Varsity 8 also won its third straight Metropolitan Championship while placing ninth of 22 crews at the Head of the Schuykill.
The Fordham rowing squad will compete at the ECAC National Invitational Collegiate Regatta this weekend on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Massachusetts.
