(May 24, 2005) ?C Fordham University Head Women??s Basketball Coach Jim Lewis announced on Tuesday that Lisa Carrol and Daiane Packer have signed with the Rams for the 2005-06 season. The two join point guard Nakeija Kelly (Queens, NY/Christ the King), guard Daniela Roark (Los Altos, CA/Pinewood), and guard Annie Zopf (Pittsburgh, PA/Pine-Richland) who all signed with Fordham during the early signing period in November. ??Signing Lisa Carrol and Daiane Packer is a great way to supplement our recruiting class,?? said Lewis. ??They both played for outstanding junior college programs and I??m excited about the wealth of experience that they will bring to Rose Hill. Both women should step in and help the program from day one.?? Carrol, a 5-10 point guard from Stockholm, Sweden, played the past two years at Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, Kansas where she played for head coach Jim Turgeon. She led the Conquistadors to a 26-6 record this past winter and a second place finish in the Western Division of the Jayhawk Conference. The First Team All-Region VI and First Team All-Conference selection averaged 12.5 ppg and 3.1 rpg, shooting 53% (137-256) from the floor, 46% (63-138) from behind the arc and 88% (50-57) from the free throw stripe. As a freshman at Dodge City, Carrol helped the Conquistadors to a 26-8 record and the team was ranked as high as eighth in the NJCAA national poll. The 26 wins were a team record as the squad finished one game shy of advancing to the national tournament. In the classroom, Carrol was named Academic All-America in both her freshman and sophomore seasons at Dodge City. Packer, a 5-8 guard from Jundaia, Brazil, was a member of the Trinity Valley Community College program in Athens, Texas the past two years, helping head coach Michael Landers?? Lady Cards to a perfect 36-0 record in 2003-04 en route to the 2004 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) national championship. Parker set a career-high on November 15, 2004 when she pumped in 36 points, hitting ten of her 12 three-point field goals versus Southwest Christian College. The Lady Cards went 28-3 in 2004-05, 17-1 in the conference, winning the Region 14 title.
