(May 19, 2005) ?C The Fordham Men??s Soccer team announced their 2005 team captains and schedule today, as senior goalkeeper Stephen Faber and junior transfer Omer Rozen will serve as team captains.
Faber, a rising senior goalkeeper from Islip, NY, has played in 25 games during his first three years. In 2004, Faber was the Rams?? number one netminder, starting 16 matches with a 1.37 goals against average, ranking sixth in the Atlantic 10. He finished the year with 72 saves, good seventh in the conference, to go with two shutouts.
Rozen, a rising junior from Israel, joined the Rams during the 2005 spring season after playing his first two seasons at Long Island University in Brooklyn. At LIU, Rozen played in 35 games during his two seasons, and last year, he ranked fourth on the Blackbirds in scoring. He played and started in all of the Rams?? 2005 spring games.
For the 2005 schedule, the Rams will play in two non-conference tournaments. The Rams open the season at the Bronco Fall Classic, hosted by Rider University, and then compete at the Monmouth Hawk Classic, hosted by Monmouth University.
Fordham has seven home dates, with four of those games being night contests. The Men's Soccer team will move to the renovated Jack Coffey Field for their home games this season, which will have FieldTurf as the playing surface and lights for night games.
With the addition of Charlotte and Saint Louis, the Rams will also be playing a new conference schedule, which will have nine conference games, compared to 11 in previous years.
The Fordham Men's Soccer team will open their 2005 regular season on Saturday, September 3rd, as they will play against Colgate University at 2:30 PM in the opening contest of the Bronco Fall Classic. The team's first home game is on Friday, September 16th, as they host Siena College at 7:00 PM.
