FORDHAM'S IVY POLLOCK AND LAURA KLAIBER EARN WEEKLY ATLANTIC 10 SOFTBALL AWARDS

(April 11, 2005) - Fordham University senior Ivy Pollock (San Diego, CA/USDHS) and freshman Laura Klaiber (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) both received their first career Atlantic 10 weekly honors as Pollock was named Atlantic 10 Softball Player of the Week, while Klaiber was selected as Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week. Pollock, the Rams' senior leftfielder, received Player of the Week honors for the first time, after hitting .524 on the week with 11 hits, nine runs scored and three RBI. She helped the Rams to a 6-0 record on the week, which included conference doubleheader sweeps over UMass and Rhode Island. Pollock tied a career-high with four hits in Fordham's second game against UMass, while having four multi-hit games on the week. On the year, she is hitting .326 with 31 hits, 23 runs scored, and seven RBI. Klaiber, the Rams' freshman shortstop, picks up her first career accolade, after collecting 13 RBI in six games to go with a .318 batting average. She set a career-high with five RBI in the second game versus UMass, while having a home run and six RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Columbia. She currently leads the Rams with 31 RBI on the year to go with a .326 batting average and four home runs. The Fordham Softball team is currently 20-10 on the year and sit in first place at 8-0 in the Atlantic 10. The Rams will next be in action on Tuesday, April 12th, as they try to extend their team record win streak of 12 games against St. Francis (NY) College in a doubleheader, beginning at 3:30 PM.
