FORDHAM??S KERON LUCIUS SIGNS WITH ALBANY CONQUEST OF AFL2

(March 22, 2005) ?C Former Fordham University football defensive lineman Keron Lucius (Brooklyn, NY/Canarsie), a 2004 Fordham graduate, has signed a free agent contract with the Albany Conquest of the Arena Football League 2 it was announced by the team. He is the third former Rams to sign with the AFL2, joining Javarus Dudley and Prince Poitier, both 2004 Fordham graduates, who are both members of the Florida Firecats, the 2004 AFL2 champions. Lucius, a two-year starter on the Fordham defensive line, appeared in all 25 games over his last two years as a Ram. As a junior, he helped the 2002 squad to their first ever Patriot League Championship and their first appearance in the NCAA I-AA Playoffs. That year, he registered 41 total tackles, 18 solo, including a team-high and Patriot League best nine sacks while also notching ten tackles for a loss, one pass break-up and one fumble recovery. As a senior in 2003, Lucius recorded 24 total tackles, 12 solo, including five tackles for a loss (23 yards) and four sacks (19 yards). He also had two pass break-ups and forced a fumble. Lucius closed out his Fordham career with 93 total tackles, 44 solo, including 15 sacks and 19 tackles for a loss. An All-New York City defensive lineman at Canarsie High School in Brooklyn, Lucius was named All-Brooklyn as well as to the Big 44 Team. He appeared in the Boomer Esiason Hero Bowl as well as for the New York State Team in the Governors Bowl following his senior year.
