Bridget Orchard announced the signing of three players for the 2007 season, as
Nicole Ayres (Westville, NJ/Deptford),
Erin Fisher (Woodinville, WA/Woodinville), and
Stephanie Kolodziejski (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) have all signed national letters of intent at Fordham.
Ayres, a 5-4 pitcher from Deptford High School, is coming off an outstanding junior season, where she averaged two strikeouts per inning, including 22 strikeouts in an eight-inning contest, while posting a 0.03 earned run average. A Clay Award Finalist, she garnered All-South Jersey, All-Conference, and All-County honors. In summer ball, she posted 22 wins, allowing only four earned runs to go with 19 shutouts.
Fisher, a 5-7 third base/outfielder, is also coming off an impressive season, where she helped Woodinville High School to the Washington State 4A Championship. A First Team All-State selection by The Tri-City Herald, Fisher led her league with seven home runs, while putting together a .386 batting average, 21 runs scored, and 21 RBI. She received the 2005 Silver Bat Award, and was named First Team All-Area by The Seattle Times and First Team All-League.
Kolodziejski, a 5-10 catcher, will also head to Fordham with an impressive resume, as she helped Union-Endicott repeat as STAC Metro Division Champions this past season, while in summber ball, she received Offensive Player of the Year honors as a member of the TC Tremors. While playing for the Tremors, she hit .419 with five home runs, 39 RBI, and 24 doubles, while also throwing out 31 of 34 baserunners. In 2004, she was the Tremors Defensive Player of the Year, and garnered Gatorade Player of the Year honors at Union-Endicott. She is also a three-time NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete recipient.
The Fordham Softball team is coming off their third straight 30-win campaign and their first ever Atlantic 10 regular season title. The team went 38-16 overall, 15-1 in the Atlantic 10, and had individuals win the Atlantic 10 Player, Pitcher, Coach, and Rookie of the Year awards this past season.
Founded in 1841, Fordham is New York City's Jesuit University. With 22 men's and women's varsity sports teams, the Fordham Rams are members of the NCAA Division I and compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, indoor and outdoor track, women's rowing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball and in the Patriot League (NCAA I-AA) for football.
