(December 15, 2005) ?C Fordham sophomore goalkeeper Justin Burse (Prospect, KY) was named to the 2005 New York All-Region Second Team, as voted upon the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
He is the first Fordham soccer player to earn All-Region honors since Brian Borrhello garnered Second Team All-New York Region honors in 2001.
Burse, an Honorable Mention All-Atlantic 10 pick this season, started 15 games for the Rams in his sophomore campaign, registering a 7-5-3 record with a 0.77 GAA. He recorded 55 saves and compiled a .821 save percentage, while notching seven shutouts on the year. The seven shutouts are the third most in a single season for a Fordham keeper and ranked Burse second in the Atlantic 10 for most shutouts this year. His 0.77 GAA finished third best in the conference, while his .821 save percentage was second best.
Burse was named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week on October 3rd after he posted back-to-back shutouts of Iona and Manhattan.
The Rams, who finished the year ranked ninth in the NSCAA New York Region poll, finished the year with an 8-5-5 overall record, 2-4-3 in the Atlantic 10. The eight wins were the most for a Fordham team since the 1998 squad went 12-7-1.
