(November 9, 2005) ?C Fordham University sophomore goalkeeper Justin Burse (Louisville, KY/St. Xavier) was named Honorable Mention All-Atlantic 10 for men??s soccer in voting conducted among the Conference??s head coaches it was announced tonight at the annual awards banquet. Additionally, Fordham freshmen Grant Kerr (Linlithgow, Scotland/Linlithgow Academy) and John Pardini (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown) were named to the All-Rookie Team.
Burse started 15 games for the Rams in his sophomore season, registering a 7-5-3 record with a 0.77 GAA. He recorded 55 saves and compiled a .821 save percentage while notching seven shutouts on the year. The seven shutouts is the third most in a single for a Fordham keeper and ranks Burse second in the Atlantic 10 for most shutouts this year. His 0.77 GAA is third best in the conference while his .821 save percentage is second best.
Burse was named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week on October 3rd after he posted back-to-back shutouts of Iona and Manhattan.
Kerr, a midfielder who started all 18 games for the Rams in 2005, tallied two goals and one assist for five points on the year. He was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week once, that coming on September 26th after he scored his first collegiate goal, which proved to be the game-winner, in a 3-2 win over Army and then assisted on the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over Marist.
Pardini, a back, was a mainstay on the Fordham defense from his center-back position, starting all 18 games for the Rams this fall. He was a main reason that Fordham allowed just 16 goals on the year while recording seven shutouts. The 16 goal allowed are the second fewest in the Atlantic 10 this season.
The Rams, who are currently ranked eighth in the latest NSCAA New York Region poll, finished the year with an 8-5-5 overall record, 2-4-3 in the Atlantic 10. The eight wins were the most for a Fordham team since the 1998 squad went 12-7-1.
