FORDHAM??S BRYANT DUNSTON NAMED FIRST TEAM PRESEASON ALL-ATLANTIC 10

(November 3, 2005) ?C Fordham University sophomore forward Bryant Dunston (Queens, NY/St. Francis Prep) was named First Team Preseason All-Atlantic 10 by vote of the league??s coaches and media members it was announced today at Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Media Day in Philadelphia. Additionally, sophomore forward Marcus Stout (Southfield, MI/Renaissance) was named Second Team Preseason All-Conference and the Rams were picked to finish eighth in the 14-team league. Dunston, who was named Atlantic 10 and Metropolitan Basketball Writers Rookie of the Year last winter, led the Rams with a 14.9 ppg average, seventh best in the conference, and with an 8.6 rpg average, second best in the league. His 62 blocks on the year was also a team-high and the second best total in the Atlantic 10. Dunston shot 52.0% (154-296) from the field, the second best in the conference last year. On the year, the 6??8, 223 pound forward, accumulated 431 points, the second most by a Fordham freshman, behind Robin who netted 495 points in 1997-98. Dunston, who scored in double figures in 23 of the 29 games on the year, also set the school freshman record for most consecutive double-digit scoring games to open a career as he netted double figures in each of the first four games for the Rams. The last Ram to score in double figures in his first two collegiate games was Robin in 1997-98. Dunston also notched nine double-doubles on the year, the most ever for a Fordham freshman. Stout, who was named to the 2005 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team, averaged 13.6 ppg, second best on the team and tenth best in the Atlantic 10, and 3.1 rpg in his freshman campaign while also recording 71 assists, third best on the squad. He saved his best for last, scoring a season-high 31 points in Fordham??s win over Duquesne in the Atlantic 10 Tournament, the second highest offensive output for a freshman in Atlantic 10 Tournament history. George Washington was selected to repeat as Atlantic 10 champions, receiving 38 first-place votes, with newcomer Charlotte picked to finish second with 18 first-place votes. Temple, Xavier, Dayton, Saint Joseph??s and Massachusetts were chosen third through seventh, respectively, with the Rams picked to finish eighth, receiving one first-place vote. The Rams open the 2005-06 exhibition season on Monday, November 14th when they host Holy Family University at 7:30 p.m. in the Rose Hill Gym and open the regular season by traveling to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands to participate in the Paradise Jam from November 19th through the 21st. Fordham opens the tournament on Saturday, November 19th by facing Old Dominion University at 6:00 p.m. (E.S.T.).
