(November 27, 2005) ?C Fordham University freshman Daniela Roark (Los Altos, CA/Pinewood) was named Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week it was announced today. Roark is the first Fordham player to receive any weekly honor since Beth Ann Dickinson was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week back in December of 2003, and is Fordham??s first Rookie of the Week since teammate Stacey Price did so in January 2002.
Roark was the lone bright spot in Fordham??s loss to West Virginia on Saturday, leading the team with 15 points. She connected on 5-of-7 three-pointers on the night, and through two games, has scored all of her 24 points on three-pointers (8-of-15). She also added four rebounds and three steals against the Mountaineers.
Roark currently ranks third in the Atlantic 10 in three-point shooting with a .533 clip, and is second on the team in scoring at 12 points per game.
The Fordham Women??s Basketball team, currently 1-1 on the year, will next be in action on Wednesday, November 30th, as they have their home opener against Georgetown University at the Rose Hill Gym, beginning at 7:00 PM.
