MEN'S SOCCER HOLDS SEVENTH SPOT IN THE NSCAA REGIONAL RANKINGS

(November 1, 2005) ?C Still very much alive for an Atlantic 10 tournament berth heading into their final two games, the Fordham Men??s Soccer team stayed put in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Regional Rankings, it was announced on November 1st. After a win and a tie this past weekend, Fordham is ranked 7th in the regional rankings, exactly where they were after last week??s losses to Dayton and Xavier. The Rams are now at 8-3-5 overall, 2-2-3 in the Atlantic 10, as the team is coming off back-to-back shutouts, where Fordham defeated Saint Joseph??s, 1-0, on an Omero Rozen goal, and played to a scoreless tie with Temple. On top of the Regional Rankings, Fordham sophomore goalkeeper Justin Burse is 19th in the nation in goals against average (0.67), and recorded his sixth and seventh shutouts of the season this weekend. His seven shutouts are the most by a Ram since Jeff Knuth had 12 in 1987. The Fordham Men??s Soccer team will conclude their regular season this weekend at home with two huge Atlantic 10 contests, which will have postseason meaning for all teams involved. Currently tied with four other teams for the final two playoff spots, the Rams host Massachusetts on Friday, November 4th at 7:00 PM, while playing Rhode Island at 1:00 PM on Sunday, November 6th.
