FORDHAM BASEBALL ANNOUNCES 2006 SCHEDULE

(November 10, 2006) ?C Fordham Baseball Head Coach Nick Restaino announced the upcoming schedule for 2006, where the Rams will look for their third consecutive trip to the Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship. This year??s schedule will feature three teams that reached the NCAA Tournament, including a three-game series at Wichita State, and a single game at the University of Miami (FL). Fordham will open the year with a two-game set at Elon University, followed by a three-game series with the University of New Orleans. The Rams then have their series at Wichita State with a home contest against Manhattan before heading to Florida. While in Florida, Fordham will compete at the Palm Beach Challenge on March 11-12, as they play Iona and St. Bonaventure over that two-day span, before single games against Miami (March 14) and Florida International (March 15), and a three-game set at Bethune-Cookman. The Rams come home on March 22nd to play New York Tech for the first of 24 home dates. Fordham then opens Atlantic 10 play at home with a three-game series against Massachusetts, which will feature the Atlantic 10??s new format of three nine-inning games. Previously, Atlantic 10 series consisted of two seven-inning games and a nine-inning game. In Atlantic 10 play, Fordham will face Massachusetts, Temple, Richmond, Saint Joseph??s, and Dayton at the new home of the Rams, Houlihan Park. Led by 2005 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year Nick Restaino, Fordham will look to improve on last season, where the team was 34-21 overall, 17-7 in the Atlantic 10. On the field, the team will be led by team captains Greg Smith, Kevin Hoover, and John Mollicone, who are all poised for a breakout year, as this year??s Atlantic 10 Championship will be hosted by Fordham at the newly renovated Houlihan Park.
