Bridget Orchard announced the upcoming schedule for 2006, where the Rams will try to defend their Atlantic 10 regular season title from a year ago.
This year??s schedule is toughest yet for the Fordham Softball team, which will feature seven teams that reached the NCAA Tournament, and one made it all the way to the College World Series.
The Rams open the season at the University of Texas, who made it to the College World Series for the third time in eight seasons, and then play in the Aggie Classic, hosted by Texas A&M, who also made the NCAA Tournament in 2005.
After playing games against South Carolina and N.C. State, Fordham will host the Fordham Spring Classic at Bahoshy Field on March 4th and 5th, featuring Hofstra, Iona, and Siena. Fordham will then head to Florida for three tournaments, all hosted by the University of South Florida. While there, Fordham will meet up with the likes of Illinois, Virginia Tech, Coastal Carolina, and South Florida.
After returning from Florida, the Rams will have 13 home dates and start their 20-game Atlantic 10 schedule. Atlantic 10 opponents Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Saint Louis, St. Bonaventure, and Charlotte will all play the Rams at Bahoshy Field this season.
