(October 30, 2005) - Fordham University freshman Katie Sanchez (Flushing, NY/Mary Louis Academy) was named Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 30th. This is the second straight week that Sanchez has garnered Rookie of the Week honors, making her one of two Atlantic 10 rookies to have two Rookie of the Week awards this season. The other is Jessie Wolfe of Richmond, who Sanchez shares the honor with this week. Sanchez scored both Fordham goals in their two contests over the weekend. She scored the lone goal of the game against Saint Joseph's in a 1-0 win on Friday, while recording the lone Ram goal in a 1-1 tie with Temple on Sunday. Sanchez ended the regular season second on the team with six goals and four assists for 16 points. The Fordham Women's Soccer team finished the regular season at 9-8-1 overall, 3-5-1 in the Atlantic 10, and await word on any postseason play.
