(January 9, 2005) ?C Fordham University freshman guard Marcus Stout (Southfield, MI/Renaissance) was named Atlantic 10 Men??s Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week ending January 8th. This is the second weekly honor of the year for Stout who was also named Rookie of the Week on December 26th. It also marks the fifth week this season that a Fordham student-athlete as has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week as freshman forward Bryant Dunston has received the honor three times in 2004-05. On the week, Stout averaged 17.5 ppg, 3.0 rpg and 2.5 steals in two games. He moved into the starting line-up against Saint Joseph??s on January 5th and responded with a game-high 17 points and four steals in a 53-50 loss. He then netted a game-high 18 points, hitting six of his eight three-point attempts, in a 79-56 win over Richmond on January 8th. Stout shot 52.1% from the field on the week (12-23), including a sizzling 52.3% from three-point range (11-21). He has now scored in double figures in six straight games, averaging 16.0 ppg over that span to raise his scoring average from 8.6 ppg to 12.0 ppg. On the year, Stout is averaging 12.0 ppg along with 2.9 rpg. He leads the team with 26 three-pointers and is second in steals (16) and third in assists (29). The Rams (5-8, 1-1) will next travel to Philadelphia face the Temple University Owls in an Atlantic 10 contest on Wednesday, January 12th at 7:00 p.m.
