(January 5, 2005) ?C Fordham University head men??s basketball coach Dereck Whittenburg announced today that senior guard Derrick Breland and junior guard Miguel Perez have left the team for personal reasons. Breland, who transferred to Fordham for the 2003-04 season from Hutchinson Community College, was averaging 1.4 ppg and 0.9 rpg in eight games so far this year. Last year, Breland averaged 5.5 ppg and 1.4 rpg while dishing out 73 assists in 26 games. Perez, a walk-on, appeared in four games this year, scoring three points and adding one rebound. He was a three-year member of the team. The Rams will next be in action on Wednesday, January 5th as they open their 2005 Atlantic 10 schedule by hosting the Saint Joseph??s University Hawks in the Rose Hill Gym at 7:00 p.m.
