KERSTIN GREENE NAMED ATLANTIC 10 WOMEN??S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

(January 10, 2005) - Freshman Kerstin Greene (Frankfurt, Germany/Carl Von Weinberg) was selected as Atlantic 10 Women??s Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week, for the week ending January 9th. This is her second straight Atlantic 10 weekly rookie award, as she received the previous honor on December 13th. Greene scored in three events at this past weekend??s Ram 10-Way Invitational, held at the New York Armory Track & Field Center, helping Fordham to a sixth place finish out of 11 teams. She placed second in the high jump (5?? 2 ???), sixth in the 60 meter hurdles (9.29), and seventh in the shotput (37?? 3 ???). Her shotput effort was a season-best distance for her, as well as for Fordham this season. She also helped the 4x400 relay team to a third place finish in a season-best time of 4:02.87. The team will next be in action twice this weekend, as they participate at the NYU Invitational on Friday, January 14th, as well as the Yale Invitational on Saturday, January 15th. Founded in 1841, Fordham is New York City's Jesuit University. With 22 men's and women's varsity sports teams, the Fordham Rams are members of the NCAA Division I and compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, indoor and outdoor track, women's rowing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball and in the Patriot League (NCAA I-AA) for football.
