(September 6, 2004) ?C Fordham University freshman running back Jonte Coven (Stone Mountain, GA/Stephenson) was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week for games of September 4th.
Fordham opened its 2004 season, under first-year head coach Ed Foley, with a 37-36 loss to the University of Rhode Island on Jack Coffey Field last Saturday.
Coven, making his collegiate debut, rushed eight times for a team-high 58 yards. He set up Fordham??s second touchdown of the game by rushing for 43 yards on an 80-yard Fordham drive as the Rams scored on a 23-yard pass from Derric Daniels to Rashawn Haynes to tie the game at 14 midway through the second quarter.
The Rams will next travel to Albany, New York to face the University at Albany on Saturday, September 11th at 6:00 p.m.
