FORDHAM FOOTBALL TO OPEN WITH RHODE ISLAND ON SATURDAY

(September 3, 2004) ?C Preseason camp is over. It??s time to kickoff the 2004 football season as the Fordham Rams will host the University of Rhode Island on Jack Coffey Field on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. as part of Campus Unity Day. All Fordham University students will be admitted for free with a valid student ID card. Fordham enters the game off a 9-3 record last fall while Rhode Island enters the game after going 4-8 in 2003. This will be the fifth meeting between Fordham and Rhode Island on the gridiron with Fordham holding a 3-1 lead in the all-time series, which started in the 1912 season. Fordham won last year??s game 63-28 in Kingston as Kevin Eakin threw a school-record six touchdown passes. The game will be preceded by a Pep Rally in the main cafeteria located in the McGinley Center beginning at noon. The rally will feature special giveaways along with appearances by the Fordham cheerleaders, mascot and band as well as comments from the student body presidents of the Rose Hill, Lincoln Center and Marymount campuses. The three campuses will also have a three-legged competition at halftime of the football game where there will be more giveaways.
