FORDHAM??S JONTE COVEN NAMED PATRIOT LEAGUE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

(September 13, 2004) ?C Fordham University freshman running back Jonte Coven (Stone Mountain, GA/Stephenson) was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week for games of September 11th. This is the second consecutive week in which Coven earned the weekly honor. Fordham picked up its first win of the 2004 season with a 14-0 victory over the University at Albany in Albany on Saturday night. Against Albany, Coven rushed ten times for 53 yards. He set up Fordham??s first touchdown of the game by rushing for 32 yards on a 49-yard Fordham drive as the Rams scored on a 3-yard pass from Derric Daniels to Darrell Taylor late in the first quarter. The big play was a 26-yard Coven carry that put the ball on the Albany 10. On the year, Coven has rushed 18 times for 111 yards, an average of 6.2 yards/rush. The Rams will next travel into Manhattan to face Columbia University in the annual Liberty Cup Game on Saturday, September 18th at 7:00 p.m.
