(August 25, 2004) ?C Fordham University Head Football Coach Ed Foley announced today that sophomore Derric Daniels (Washington, DC/H.D. Woodson Senior) will serve as the starting quarterback for the Rams when they open the 2004 season on Saturday, September 4th against Rhode Island on Jack Coffey Field.
Daniels, a sophomore, will be making his collegiate debut after missing the entire 2003 season due to an injury suffered in summer camp. A 6-1, 185-pounder, he lettered in football for three years at H.D. Woodson Senior High School where he was Washington Post Honorable Mention All-Metropolitan pick in 2002. Daniels also named DCIAA All-East at quarterback and MVP of the DCIAA All-Star Classic. As a senior, he was selected to the Pigskin Metropolitan All-High School Team and received the Rodney P. Savoy Jr. Award as the outstanding scholar-athlete.
The Rams, who were 9-3 last season, have been one of the most successful NCAA I-AA teams over the past three years, compiling a 26-10 record, the 14th best winning percentage among I-AA teams over that span.
