(June 8, 2004) ?C Fordham University senior pitcher Rob Semerano (Port Jervis, NY/Port Jervis) was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 20th round of Major League Baseball??s 2004 First Year Player Draft it was announced today.
Semerano was 4-3 with a 5.48 ERA on the year. He appeared in 14 games, starting eleven, and worked 67.1 innings, striking out 58 hitters. Semerano was second on the team in strikeouts and third in wins and innings pitched.
At the 2004 Block F Awards Dinner, Semerano was named co-recipient of the 2004 Benedict T. Harter award, presented to the College of Business Administration senior athlete who has made significant academic and athletic contributions. The award honors Ben Harter, CBA ??39, and retired dean of both Fordham undergraduate and graduate schools of business.
Semerano, who carries a 3.88 GPA in Accounting, was named Academic All-Atlantic 10 this spring as well as being named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner??s Honor Roll.
