FORDHAM'S KATIE DAVIS NAMED TO THE NFCA MID-ATLANTIC ALL-REGION TEAM

(May 20, 2004) - Fordham University sophomore outfielder Katie Davis (Hanover, PA/Southwestern) earned her second postseason award, as she was named to the NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Second Team. Earlier this month, she was named to the Atlantic 10 Softball All-Conference Team. This is the second straight year Fordham has been represented on the All-Region teams, as Michelle Schlichtig was named First Team All-Region, while Jaime Giguere earned Second Team honors last season. Davis had a stellar season for the Rams, setting five single season school records and one career school record. A three-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, Davis set the Fordham career and single season records for home runs with 13, which also tied the Atlantic 10 record this season with UMass' Katie Jo Kelley, who was also a Second Team All-Region pick in the Northeast. Davis also set Fordham single season records for runs (39), hits (62), RBI (35), and total bases (112). On the year, Davis finished with a .352 batting average, helping the Rams finish 35-24-1 on the year, and making their second straight trip to the Atlantic 10 Softball Tournament. Davis is one of seven Atlantic 10 players to garner All-Region honors, as Temple's Kim Watkins and Adrienne Repsher were Second Team All-Region for the Mid-Atlantic, and UMass' Kelli Arnold, Hilary Puglia, Kelley, and Aisha Franke were Second Team All-Region for the Northeast.
