FORDHAM??S KURT THOMAS NAMED FIRST TEAM ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT 1

(May 13, 2004) - Fordham University senior Kurt Thomas (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Hendrick) was named First Team Academic All-District 1 as selected by the College Sports Information Director of America (CoSIDA) it was announced today. The team is selected by a vote of the district??s Sports Information Directors. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve and have a 3.2 gpa for his/her entire career. Thomas, who will now go on the national ballot for Academic All-America? consideration, carries a 3.34 gpa in Business Administration. In 46 games this spring, he is hitting .316 (50-158) with eight doubles, three triples, two home runs and 31 RBI along with a team-high ten stolen bases. He is second on the team with 36 runs scored and in RBIs while ranking third on the squad in hits (50) and fifth in batting average. Earlier this year, Thomas collected his 200th career hit, becoming just the seventh player in Fordham history to notch 200 hits. He currently has 209 career hits, placing him fifth on the Fordham all-time list. Thomas has also appeared in 186 career games, tying him for first on Fordham??s career list. The Rams (22-24-1, 11-10 Atlantic 10) close out their regular season this weekend as they travel to Ambler, Pennsylvania to face Temple University for a doubleheader on Saturday at noon and a single game Sunday at noon.
