(May 11, 2004) - The Fordham Softball team enters the 2004 Atlantic 10 Tournament as the #4 Seed. This is Fordham??s second straight appearance in the Atlantic 10 Tournament, after a 35-22-1 season and a 8-6 mark in conference play. THE GAMES: The Atlantic 10 Tournament opens with the Fordham University Rams (35-22-1, 8-6) as the #4 seed versus the #1 seed and nine-time defending champion, the University of Massachusetts Minutewomen (32-13, 11-1). The other match-up features the Temple University Owls (25-15, 9-3) as the #2 seed against #3 seed, the Saint Joseph??s University Hawks (19-27, 8-4). All games will be broadcast over the Internet by UMass Radio, as well as being available on GameTracker on the UMass website at www.umassathletics.com. Last year, the Rams dropped the opening game to UMass by a 3-1 final score, and then lost a 3-2 contest to Saint Joseph??s. Like last season, the team went 2-4 against the three other teams in the tournament. The Rams were swept by UMass at the UMass Softball Complex, back on May 1, by scores of 1-0 and 14-6. Fordham then split both series with Saint Joseph??s (lost 2-0/won 3-2) and Temple (won 3-2/lost 2-0) in April. Full game notes for the Rams are available on the Softball web page.
