(April 5, 2004) ?C Fordham University sophomore Christina Papa (Teaneck, NJ/Academy of Holy Angels) was named Atlantic 10 Women??s Tennis Co-Performer of the Week for the week ending April 4th. Fordham went 1-2 on the week with a 4-3 win over the University of Rhode Island on Saturday, a 4-3 loss to Fairfield on Monday, and a 4-2 loss to the University of Massachusetts on Friday. Papa was a perfect 3-0 in singles action on the week, playing at first singles, not losing a set. She started the week leading Fairfield??s Diane Webb 2-1 in the first set before Webb was forced to retire. She then defeated Massachusetts?? Christine Liehr, 6-3 and 6-3, before defeating Rhode Island??s Erin Fleming, 6-3 and 6-0. In doubles action, Papa teamed up with Lisa Vulin to win two doubles matches on the week, defeating Fairfield??s Erin Reeves and Andrea Suriano, 8-5, and Rhode Island??s Jessica Collins and Erin Dwyer, 8-0, both at second doubles. Papa is now 4-1 this spring in singles play and 10-4 overall on the year. Founded in 1841, Fordham is New York City's Jesuit University.
