At the Atlantic 10 Awards Banquet on Thursday, March 4th, two Fordham Rams were recipients of awards on the night, as junior Monica Mack (Cincinnati, OH) was awarded with the Atlantic 10??s Most Improved Player Award, while senior Beth Ann Dickinson (Milltown, NJ) was named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team.
Mack, one of the team??s co-captains, has been the most consistent player for the Rams all season long. She improved her scoring by more than eight points from last year, going from 5.2 to 13.3 ppg, while also shooting better from the field (35% to 40%) and from three-point range (32% to 39%). Mack has also almost tripled the amount of three-pointers made from last season (18 compared to 50). She becomes the second straight Ram to win the Most Improved Award, as Mobolaji Akiode won the award last season.
Dickinson, the other co-captain of the squad and a business administration major, holds the highest gpa on the team, while also being second on the team in scoring at over 12 points a game and leading the squad in free throw and three-point percentages at 89% and 39%, respectively. She is the first Fordham women??s basketball player to be named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team.
The Fordham Women??s Basketball team is the East #5 seed at the Atlantic 10 Tournament, which begins on Friday, March 5th. Their opening round game is against West #4 seed, Xavier University, beginning at approximately 4:00 PM at Saint Joseph??s Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.
