FOUR RAMS NAMED TO ATLANTIC 10 WINTER ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS

(March 3, 2004) - Four Fordham University student-athletes were selected to the Atlantic 10 Winter Academic All-Conference teams it was announced today. Sophomore swimmer Katie Greiner (Cincinnati, OH/Ursuline Academy), sophomore swimmer Shaun Porter (Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista), sophomore track runner Maureen Zivic (Coraopolis, PA/Our Lady of Sacred Heart) and junior track runner Mike Rozea (Lynbrook, NY/Chaminade) were each named to their first academic all-conference teams, respectively. Greiner, an Economics major, set three school records at the 2004 Atlantic 10 Championships in the 500 freestyle, the 200 freestyle, and the 200 backstroke. She also helped the 400 and 800 freestyle relay teams set new school marks, while receiving Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in the 400 freestyle relay. She finished with the Rams' top time in five different events this season, including the 200 and 500 freestyle, the 200 backstroke, and the 100 and 200 butterfly. Porter, a Business Administration major, scored in two events for the Rams at the 2004 Atlantic 10 Championships, as he took 8th in the 100 butterfly and 12th in 200 butterfly. He finished with the Rams' top time in the 1000 freestyle this season, and the second best time in the 200 butterfly. Zivic, a Business Administration major, was named Second Team All-Atlantic 10 by placing second in the 500 meter run at the 2004 Atlantic 10 Championships. Earlier this season, she broke the Fordham school record in 500 meters, which was the fastest in the Atlantic 10 this season. She also finished with the top time in the 400 meters and 800 meters this season for the Rams. Rozea, a Political Science major, was Fordham's top runner in the 500 meters, placing sixth at the Atlantic 10 Championships and 11th at the Metropolitan Championships. He was named Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week once this season, after winning the 500 meter race at the Christmas Invitational back in December. He finished the year with the Rams' best times in the 500 and 800 meter races, while having the second-best 400 meter time.
