(March 29, 2004) - Fordham University junior Jeremy Bourgeois (Danvers, MA/Danvers) earned his first career Atlantic 10 weekly honor, as Bourgeois was named Atlantic 10 Baseball Player of the Week, while also earning the same honor from the ECAC.
Bourgeois, a Second Team All-Conference selection last season, hit .579 on the week (11-for-19) in five games, including batting .667 (10-for-15) with a pair of home runs in Fordham's three-game conference sweep of Dayton over the weekend. He started his series with Dayton by going 4-for-4 with the game-winning two-run home run in the seventh inning to give Fordham a 6-4 win. In the final game, Bourgeois had a career-high five hits, going 5-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a solo home run in the Rams' 7-4 win over the Flyers. On the year, Bourgeois is batting a team-best .386 at the plate with three home runs, six doubles and nine RBI.
The Fordham Baseball team is currently 9-10 overall, having won their last five contests, and 3-0 in the Atlantic 10. The three-game conference sweep for Fordham this past weekend was the first for the Rams since they swept Duquesne University at the end of the 2001 season. The Rams will now start a six-game homestand, beginning with a match-up against Manhattan College on Tuesday, March 30th, beginning at 3:00 PM.
