(March 29, 2004) - Fordham University freshman pitcher Sara Kinney (Dripping Springs, TX/Dripping Springs) earned her second Atlantic 10 weekly honor of the season, as she was named Atlantic 10 Softball Rookie of the Week for the week ending March 28th. Fordham has now received at least one Atlantic 10 weekly award for each week they have played a game. Kinney, who was rookie of the week back on March 15, went 2-0 with a save in four appearances on the week, striking out 23 batters in 20 innings, allowing just six earned runs. She started the week with a complete game win over St. Peter's, where she struck out a career-high 10 batters. She followed that with an eight inning performance in Fordham's conference win over Temple, where she struck out eight, allowing one earned run on five hits. Kinney capped the week by picking up the save against Hartford, pitching the final three innings, striking out four. On the year, Kinney has a 9-6 record with four saves, a 1.55 ERA and 77 strikeouts. The Fordham Softball team currently has the best overall record in the Atlantic 10 at 20-10, and will next be in action on Saturday, April 3rd as they host St. Bonaventure for an Atlantic 10 doubleheader on Bahoshy Field at 12:00 PM.
