Fordham University junior pitcher Carol Fischer (Berthoud, CO/Berthoud) and freshman infielder Krystle Henry (Maywood, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) both earned their second Atlantic 10 weekly honor of the season, as Fischer earned Atlantic 10 Softball Pitcher of the Week and Henry was named Atlantic 10 Softball Rookie of the Week. With the awards this week, Fordham has received at least one softball weekly award each week, with the team earning two individual awards in each of the last three weeks.
Fischer, who earned pitcher of the week back on March 1st, earns her second career honor after going a perfect 3-0 with a 0.54 ERA at the Rebel Games in Orlando, FL. She held opponents to a .136 batting average on the week, allowing just six hits and two walks, while striking out 14 batters. Her highlight game of the week was on March 18th, as she pitched her third career one-hitter and fourth career shutout versus Lafayette, tying a career-high with eight strikeouts. On the year, Fischer has a record of 5-2 with an ERA of 1.52 and 28 strikeouts.
Henry, who was rookie of the week back on Feb. 16, earns her second honor of the year after hitting .316, helping Fordham to a 6-2 record at the Rebel Games. She picked up her first multiple RBI game in the Rams' win over Vermont on March 19th, while also recording a pair of multiple-hit games against Columbia and Vermont. Henry is currently batting .277 with 10 runs scored, four RBI, and five stolen bases in 20 games.
The Fordham Softball team currently has the best record in the Atlantic 10 at 15-9, and will next be in action on Wednesday, March 24th as they host St. Peter's College for a doubleheader on Bahoshy Field at 3:30 PM.
