FORDHAM??S BRYANT DUNSTON NAMED ATLANTIC 10 MEN??S BASKETBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

(December 5, 2004) ?C Fordham University freshman forward Bryant Dunston (Lefrak City, NY/St. John??s Prep) was named Atlantic 10 Men??s Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week ending December 4th. This is the second straight weekly award for Dunston who becomes the first Ram to earn multiple A-10 Rookie of the Week honors since Jeff McMillan received the honor twice in the 2000-01 season. In their lone game of the week, Dunston led the Rams to a 64-59 win at Iona College on Thursday night, helping the team to break a 13-game losing streak away from home. He scored 14 points in the win over the Gaels and added five rebounds and one block. Dunston shot 5-for-9 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free throw stripe. Dunston, who scored a game-high 20 points in his collegiate debut against St. Francis, becomes the first Fordham freshman to score in double figures in his first four collegiate games. Bevon Robin was the last Ram freshman to net double figures in his first two collegiate games and holds the freshman single game (35) and season (495) scoring records. On the year, Dunston is averaging a team-best 15.3 ppg, sixth best in the Atlantic 10, along with 5.3 rpg while also recording a team-high nine blocks. The Rams (2-2) will next host the College of the Holy Cross on Monday, December 6th in the Rose Hill Gym at 7:00 p.m.
