(December 3, 2004) - Fordham interim head beaseball coach Nick Restaino announced the signing of six recruits today as the Rams signed outfielder P.J. Como (Sea Cliff, NY/North Shore), infielder Robert Iacono (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville), infielder John Kahn (New York, NY/Trinity), infielder/pitcher Jake Rabinowitz (New York, NY/ The Beacon High School), cather Mickey White (Monroe, MI/Monroe), and pitcher John Young (Mendon, MA/Nipmuc Regional).
Como, a senior at North Shore High School, patrols centerfield for the Vikings and is a member of the honor roll. As a junior, he hit .340 in 2004 and was a perfect 12-for-12 on stolen bases. A multi-sport athlete, he has also garnered All-County football honors at North Shore.
Iacono, a senior at Tottenville High School, had a standout junior campaign. In 2004, he was selected to Newsday's All-City team as an infielder and named an All-Star by The Staten Island Advance. On the year, he batted .517 (30-58), while driving 30 runs and stealing five bases en route to receiving the "Big Stick" Award.
Kahn, a senior at Trinity High School, is serving as team captain for the second straight season. As a junior, he received the Trinity Alumni Award, given to the player for outstanding contribution to the baseball team. From his shortstop position this past summer, he hit .424 for the New York Gothams, scoring 71 runs, while stealing 37 bases.
Rabinowitz, a senior at the Beacon High School, was an All-Manhattan team selection by Newsday, as well as receiving team MVP honors. At the plate, he hit .455 (20-44) with seven stolen bases, while on the mound he registered a record of 4-3 with a 2.00 ERA and 61 strikeouts in 42 innings pitched. Prior to last season, he played at the Dwight School, where he was a Second Team All-Manhattan pick by The Daily News in 2002 and the regular season MVP of the PSAA in 2003.
White, a senior at Monroe High School, is a two-time First Team All-District selection, while receiving Honorable Mention All-Region honors. He was listed as the 10th best pro prospect in the state of Michigan by Baseball America, after hitting .443 as a junior with 35 hits. An Academic All-State selction, White is a member of the National Honor Society and serves as class president of Monroe High School.
Young, a senior at Nipmuc Regional High School, has been a pitcher for the varsity baseball team the past two seasons, while being a basketball player for the past three seasons. Listed at 6'6", he made nine appearances on the mound, making seven starts with a 6-0 record and was the recipient of the school's pitching award.

With 22 men's and women's varsity sports teams, the Fordham Rams are members of the NCAA Division I and compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, indoor and outdoor track, women's rowing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball and in the Patriot League (NCAA I-AA) for football.
