FORDHAM??S MARCUS STOUT NAMED ATLANTIC 10 MEN??S BASKETBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

(December 27, 2004) ?C Fordham University freshman guard Marcus Stout (Southfield, MI/Renaissance) was named Atlantic 10 Men??s Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week ending December 25th. This is the first weekly award for Stout who becomes the second Ran to earn Rookie of the Week honors in 2004-05, joining freshman forward Bryant Dunston who has received the award twice this winter. In their lone game of the week, Stout led the Rams to a 69-59 win over Siena College in the Rose Hill Gym on Thursday night, December 23rd. In that game, Stout scored a season-high 16 points and he added a career-best six rebounds to go along with two assists and a steal. He hit back-to-back three-pointers to help Fordham erase a 48-46 deficit with 5:19 remaining and, after Siena cut the lead to two, 52-50, he hit another three-pointer to ignite an 8-0 Fordham run to put the game away. Stout finished the game shooting 5-9 from the field and 4-7 from three-point land as well as 2-3 from the free throw stripe. On the year, Stout is averaging 9.5 ppg, fourth best on the team, and 2.6 rpg. He also has recorded 19 assists, second best on the squad, and eight steals. The Rams (4-4) will next participate in the Golden Knight Holiday Classic in Orlando, Florida on December 28th and 29th. The Rams will open the tournament against Charleston Southern on Tuesday, December 28th at 6:00 p.m. and then take on either Brown or Central Florida on Wednesday, December 29th.
