FORDHAM'S MONICA MACK NAMED TO ATLANTIC 10 PRESEASON ALL-CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM

(November 4, 2004) - Fordham University senior guard Monica Mack (Cincinnati, OH) was named to the 2004-05 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Preseason All-Conference Second Team, while also garnering Preseason All-Defensive Honors, as voted upon by the Atlantic 10 head coaches. The Atlantic 10's Second Team was comprised of Mack, St. Bonaventure's Stefanie Collins, Temple's Cynthia Jordan, Rhode Island's Tanya Rhodes, and La Salle's Crista Ricketts. On the All-Defensive team, Mack was joined by Rhodes, Richmond's Kate Flavin and Saona Chapman, and Temple's Candice Dupree. This is the second straight season that Fordham has had someone named to the Preseason All-Conference teams, as Kyshawn Ruff was a preseason All-Defensive team selection last season. Mack, a 5-5 point guard, was the Atlantic 10's Most Improved Player as well as team MVP in 2003-04. Starting every game for Fordham, she led the team with a career-high 13.6 points per game average. She also led the team in assists (92), steals (52), and minute per game (36.1), while ranking among the Atlantic 10 leaders in seven different categories. Mack led Fordham in scoring 16 times as a junior, reaching double-figures in scoring in 20 of 27 games, which included four games of 20 points or better. Mack, along with the rest of the 2004-05 Fordham Rams, will see their first action of the year with a pair of exhibition games on Thursday, November 4th as they host the New York Gazelles at 7:00 PM and on Monday, November 15th, when they host the NWBL at 7:00 PM. The Rams' first regular season game is on Friday, Novmeber 19th as they have their home opener against the Manhattan College Jaspers at 7:00 PM Founded in 1841, Fordham is New York City??s Jesuit University. With 22 men??s and women??s varsity sports teams, the Fordham Rams are members of the NCAA Division I and compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, indoor and outdoor track, women??s rowing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball and in the Patriot League (NCAA I-AA) for football.
