FORDHAM'S BETH PURCELL NAMED TO THE ATLANTIC 10 WOMEN'S SOCCER ALL-CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM

(November 3, 2004) - In a vote by the Atlantic 10's Women's Soccer head coaches, Fordham University senior Beth Purcell (Lake Elmo, MN/Lake Elmo) was selected to the Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer All-Conference Second Team this evening at the Atlantic 10 Awards Banquet. She becomes just the second Fordham Women's Soccer player to be named to the All-Conference team twice, joining Denise Corrado, who was a First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection in 1995 and 1996. Purcell, a Second Team All-Atlantic 10 pick last year, had an outstanding senior campaign, leading the team in scoring with seven goals and four assists for 18 points, setting career-highs in goals and points. She ranked among the Atlantic 10 leaders in shots, goals, points, and was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week once during the 2004 season. For her career, she ranks in Fordham's top five in games played with 72 (T-5th), games started with 66 (5th), goals with 17 (4th), assists with 12 (3rd) and points with 46 (4th). Founded in 1841, Fordham is New York City??s Jesuit University. With 22 men??s and women??s varsity sports teams, the Fordham Rams are members of the NCAA Division I and compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, indoor and outdoor track, women??s rowing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball and in the Patriot League (NCAA I-AA) for football.
