(November 28, 2004) ?C Fordham University freshman forward Bryant Dunston (Lefrak City, NY/St. John??s Prep) was named Atlantic 10 Men??s Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week ending November 27th. Dunston becomes the first Ram to earn A-10 Rookie of the Week honors since Adrian Walton received the award in January of 2002.
On the week, Dunston averaged 13.5 ppg and 6.0 rpg while also blocking seven shots in two Fordham losses. He shot 55.0% (11-20) from the field and hit five of his six free throws. In the first game of the week, a 66-51 loss at Boston University on Wednesday, he scored a team-high 14 points and added five rebounds and four blocks. Dunston followed that game with a 13-point, seven-rebound, three-block performance in a 76-60 loss to Manhattan College on Saturday.
Dunston, who scored a game-high 20 points in his collegiate debut against St. Francis, becomes the first Fordham freshman to score in double figures in his first three collegiate games. Robin was the last Ram freshman to net double figures in his first two games and holds the freshman single game (35) and season (495) scoring records.
On the year, Dunston is averaging a team-best 15.7 ppg along with 5.3 rpg while also recording a team-high eight blocks and three assists.
The Rams (1-2) will next travel to New Rochelle, New York to face the Iona College Gaels on Thursday, December 2nd at 7:30 p.m. in a game that will be televised live by Fox Sports NY.
