FORDHAM??S NIKO FELIX NAMED ATLANTIC 10 MEN??S SWIMMING PERFORMER OF THE WEEK, DONNIE CALLARA NAMED ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

(November 22, 2004) - Fordham University sophomore Niko Felix (Vallejo, CA/St. Patrick/St. Vincent High School) was named Atlantic 10 Men??s swimming and Diving Performer of the Week while freshman Donnie Callara (Scarsdale, NY/Scarsdale) was named Men??s Swimming and Diving Co-Rookie of the Week, for the week ending November 21st. This is the third week Callara has picked up the award while it is the first weekly award this year for Felix. Felix won two events and was a member of a winning relay team as the Rams swept a tri-meet with Duquesne and Rhode Island, defeating Duquesne, 120-84, and Rhode Island, 151-85, on Saturday. He was victorious in the 200 IM in a season best time of 1:56.95, and the 200 breaststroke (2:07.40) while also being a member of the winning 400 medley relay team. Callara, who has won 13 of 14 diving competitions through the first seven meets of the season, was a big factor in the Rams?? victory over Duquesne and Rhode Island on Saturday. For the sixth time in seven meets, he won both the one and three meter competitions, taking the one-meter diving competition with a score of 302.37, and the three-meter event with a score of 274.70. The Fordham Swimming & Diving team will next be in action on Monday, November 22nd as they travel to Manhattan to meet the Columbia University Lions at 6:00 PM.
